Franz+Yulli's Wedding | MOSI, Tampa | August 2nd, 2013

Franz and Yulli decided to get married at the same venue where they first had a date. You see, Franz used to work at MOSI and had "special" privileges by working there. One night, he invited Yulli to the Museum and took her to the top of the dome. You can see Busch Gardens, Tampa's downtown and the beautiful campus of the University of South Florida, the school where both of them were attending at the time.

I had the chance to meet Franz while I was in college. I remember that he was always involved with the Latino community in campus in many ways. When he was not at LASA, a Latino student organization, he was organizing students to support Latino causes. It was through mutual friends than they became interested in each other. Their families come from the west coast and east coast, 2 different countries, Horchatas y bandejas paisas. Franz's family is from Colombia and New Jersey; Yulli's family is from Mexico, California and Utah. I must say that their household will not lack opportunities to celebrate and cook delicious food. I had the privilege to attend the rehearsal where I was able to meet both of their families and see how well Franz and Yulli interact with each other's families. The house was full of joy and it felt like a celebration already.

Their wedding colors were coral and apple green with most of the decorations made by Yulli.  My favorite was her brooch bouquet made with silk flowers and matching perfectly with the rest of her decorations. One of my favorite things to watch was the interaction between Yulli and her mom. You could sense throughout the entire day how proud Marilu was of her beautiful daughter. Yulli’s dress was from David’s Bridal and the wedding bands from Jared.

The reception was hosted at the lobby of MOSI with beautiful string lights draped from the ceiling. The two dinosaurs provided a unique backdrop for all the guests. The first dance was very emotional as the entire guest created stood up from their tables to observe Franz and Yulli’s first dance. As the night went on, Mariachis arrived to the reception to provide a small taste of the diverse Mexican culture. Yulli’s dad quickly jumped to the opportunity of singing for his daughter and his wife. He seriously could compete for American Idol.

Overall, it was wedding like no other in a unique and beautiful place.

Many blessings and best wishes for Franz and Yulli as they embark in the journey of their lives.

Please leave them a comment below with your a fun idea for date night.

Power Family | Anna Maria Island, FL | August 3rd, 2013

I had the privilege to drive to Anna Maria Island from Tampa to take photos of this beautiful family. They get together every couple of years to spend time with each other and celebrate their family unit. This year the Power's had a new addition. Jake and Vanessa added a new baby girl to the family; her name is Evie and she's super precious. The weather was perfect and all the children had a great time while we took the photos on the beach.

Thank you for allowing me to capture such beautiful memories of your family.

Filipino Family Session | Curtis Hixon Park | July 21st, 2013

It's Monday blog time!

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to meet and photograph a beautiful Filipino family in Downtown Tampa. We decided chose Curtis Hixon Park because it created the perfect backdrop for the photos. The park is located among the Sykes Building, The Tampa Museum of Art and The Glazer Children's Museum. It sits on the banks of Hillsborough River, right across for the University of Tampa. Needless to say, It's of the best parks in Tampa Bay.

This Sunday afternoon, the weather decided to cooperate a little bit with us. We escape the afternoon showers and took cover from the heat underneath the Tampa Museum of Art.  Now, I was ready for the four sisters and their beautiful families.

The first family up for photos was Joyce and her 3 beautiful children; Nadia, Chloe and Major. You could tell that  they really love their mom and were quick to huddle around her as we were taking photos. Chloe was amazing as she jumped on her mom's lap and gave her a quick kiss.

Next up were Nicole, Thomas, and cute Oliver. For them, I decided to go to the other end of the park and take some photos near the Sykes building. I figured by then that all the kids loved Nanna, so she came along to make Oliver happy. I loved how Nanna was quick to entertain Oliver and make their session even better. As expected, Oliver hesitated only a little before she gave Nicole a well deserved kiss.

For the next family, we quickly went over to the Children's Museum and took some photos. I must say that Justin was hilarious and could easily make Brycen laugh at any given moment. The father-son photos came out really great. Parents are very resourceful and Christina figured out how much Brycen liked her bracelet. As he play with it, we were able to get awesome pictures of  him.

Last but not least, we have Chris, Joann and Olivia. I've known Chris and Joann for a couple of years and it was beautiful to see their interaction with Olivia. Olivia is at that stage where she prefers mommy over daddy. However, we were able to play that into our advantage and get some tender photos of their family.

It was amazing to see how these 4 sisters are raising their children together with only a few months apart. I can tell that they will be the best cousins ever. I'm grateful for the opportunity to capture these moments of their life and I hope these images will rekindle happy memories once they're much older.

Enjoy the photos!
